Bamboo is a plant belonging to the subfamily Bambusoideae, within the grass family (Poaceae or Gramineae). The subfamily Bambusoideae is subdivided into two tribes: Bambuseae (the so-called woody bamboos) and Olyreae (the so-called herbaceous bamboos).
