Syrah (in French) or Shiraz (in English) is a red grape variety from the Vitis vinifera family, widely used in wine production.
Today it is grown in countries such as Australia (where it is called Shiraz) and France (where it is called Syrah). Other countries where it can be found are Argentina, the United States, Chile (where it is called Shiraz) and Portugal.
In the northern Rhône region of France, all red wines come from Syrah.
